Forty-plus companies. That’s the number on the recruiter slide.
Most families read that number the same way: a long list means a good college. I want to push back on that read before anyone builds a decision around it.
A list is a starting point. It isn’t the evidence.
What’s actually on the list
Here’s what Kalvium documents, sourced from the Student Success Report.
Named recruitment partners: Morgan Stanley, PhonePe, Thoughtworks, Lowe’s, Yellow.ai, Tata 1mg, Maersk, 7-Eleven, Rupeek, Medable, Clari, Raksul. Forty or more companies in total, per the full logo grid in the report.
Named students with current placements: Navaneeth at Yellow.ai. Akash at Medable. Piyush at 7-Eleven. Chandan at Swiftlabs. Real names, real employers, checkable on LinkedIn if a family wants to verify.
That’s the receipt. Twelve named companies, four named students, a stated total above forty. Compare that level of specificity to whatever list you’re holding from another college’s brochure. If the other list is just logos with no names attached, that’s the first thing worth noticing.
What a logo grid actually tells you
A company’s logo on a recruiter slide means one thing, and one thing only: that company hired at least one graduate from that college, at some point.
It doesn’t tell you how many students. It doesn’t tell you which year. It doesn’t tell you the role level, the offer size, or whether the relationship is active or a single hire from three years ago that never repeated.
I’ve sat on the hiring side of enough conversations to know how these slides get built. A company visits campus once, hires two people, and the logo goes up permanently. Nobody updates the slide when the relationship goes quiet. That’s not fraud. It’s just how brochure logos work everywhere, not only at Kalvium. The logo is real. The implied scale often isn’t.
So the question worth asking any college, including this one, is: how many students went to each of these companies, and how recently? A college that can answer that with named students and named years is giving you something closer to a receipt than a claim.
What the named students add
This is where the list stops being decorative.
Navaneeth, Yellow.ai. Akash, Medable. Piyush, 7-Eleven. Chandan, Swiftlabs. Four names attached to four employers.
A named student is a different category of evidence from a logo. A logo can be three years old and technically still true. A named student with a current role is checkable right now. You can look them up. That’s the test I’d apply to any placement claim: can I verify this specific instance, or am I being asked to trust the aggregate.
The gap between forty logos and four named students isn’t a red flag by itself. Most colleges can’t name every placement publicly, for privacy reasons if nothing else. But the named students set a floor. They tell you the logo grid isn’t purely aspirational. At least some fraction of it is documented down to the individual.
The number that actually closes the gap
Here’s where I’d push back on reading a partner list in isolation at all.
A list, however long, doesn’t tell you what fraction of a batch got placed. Forty companies could mean forty students out of a batch of two hundred, or it could mean four hundred offers across a batch of five hundred. The list alone can’t distinguish those two outcomes, and they are very different outcomes.
The number that closes that gap is the placement rate.
As of March 2026, 82.40% of Kalvium’s Batch 2026 was placed. That’s calculated from the full enrolled batch, not a placed-eligible subset that excludes students who left the process or didn’t clear a shortlisting bar. Median offer: ₹16.5 LPA. The floor: ₹15 LPA. The batch hadn’t graduated when those numbers were published, so the final figure moves up from there, not down.

Read that alongside any partner list you’re evaluating, from any college. The list tells you who hired. The rate tells you how many.
Company diversity versus name recognition
There’s a separate trap in how families read these lists, and it’s worth naming directly.
A family sees Morgan Stanley on the slide and stops reading. The other thirty-plus companies barely register. That’s a name-recognition bias, and it produces a distorted picture of what the placement spread actually looks like.
Where Kalvium graduates actually end up working breaks the Batch 2026 spread down by sector: AI and Data at 19.4%, IT Services at 17.7%, SaaS at 16.1%, HealthTech at 12.9%, FinTech at 11.3%, and four smaller sectors below that. No single sector clears 20%. That spread is a more honest signal than any one recognisable name on the list.
A student headed into HealthTech at Tata 1mg or Medable isn’t doing lesser engineering work than a student headed into FinTech at Morgan Stanley or PhonePe. The company brand differs. The underlying skill the role demands, building and maintaining real systems, doesn’t. If a family’s decision-making stops at “does the list have a name I recognise,” they’re optimising for the wrong variable.
Three things to ask about any partner list, including this one
One: how many students went to each named company, and in which year. A single hire in 2022 and a repeat relationship hiring five students a year read identically on a logo slide. They’re not the same claim.
Two: what’s the placement rate the list sits alongside, and what’s the denominator. A list without a disclosed rate is a list without a scale. Ask for both, from any college.
Three: is the spread concentrated or distributed. A batch placed mostly through two or three large recruiters carries a different risk than a batch placed across nine sectors and forty companies. Concentration risk is real. If one of those two or three employers slows hiring in a given year, a concentrated batch has fewer alternatives than the brochure implied.
Apply the same three questions to the next brochure you read, wherever it’s from. A list that can’t answer them is a list asking to be taken on faith.
What the list is actually good for
I’m not arguing the list is meaningless. It isn’t.
A named list, even an incomplete one, is evidence that real hiring happened. Companies don’t put engineers through interview loops and pay them salaries as a favour to a college. Morgan Stanley didn’t hire a Kalvium graduate because of a partnership deck. They hired because a candidate cleared their bar.
What the list is good for is confirming that the placement rate isn’t manufactured from thin air, that there are real employers behind the percentage. What it’s not good for is telling you the scale, the recency, or the concentration on its own. For that, you need the rate, the sector spread, and ideally named students you can check.
Read the list. Then ask for the numbers that make the list mean something.
